Why won’t Max debate Bob?

Dooley, in his own erudite way (see below), has already answered the headline question.

Truth is, Max is simply Chicken Shit!

August surprise!

August 12, 2008 · 2 Comments

It is obvious to this veteran news observer that Russia’s military action against Georgia is aimed at two things:

(1) blocking Sam Nunn from becoming Barack Obama’s running mate, and

(2) bumping Bob Kelleher’s campaign for U.S. Senate off front page news.

Nunn and Kelleher have nothing in common with one another, but Russian leadership is obviously concerned that it is current U.S. policy to reduce Russia to little more than a future host for Winter Olympics. Fear that Kelleher and Nunn are in cahoots is a common KGB anxiety. Why?

Nunn served for 24 years as a U.S. Senator from Georgia, and is currently CEO of the Nuclear Threat Initiative. (Hint: Russia has a lot of nukes on the loose). A lawyer from New York currently serves as President of Georgia, where U.S. interest in strategic oil and natural gas pipelines threatens the sovereignty of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin (who is not President of Germany or Russia despite what foreign policy expert McCain repeatedly states).

To make matters worse, Hillary and Bill remain angry because McCain has not asked any of the Clintons (including Chelsea) to be his running mate, and Bill continues to insist (petulantly, of course) that Obama is playing the “race card” by vacationing in Hawaii in an effort to acquire a tan that will attract votes of “real Blacks” like Jesse Jackson.

What is really going on here is that perennial candidate Bob Kelleher is gaining on perennial candidate Max Baucus! Kelleher would institute a parliamentary system of government in the U.S, which means that Tony Blair could conceivably make a comeback, which might threaten, “like, the whole American Revolution thing, you know?” (Paris Hilton said that!)

It all boils down to who gets to be Celebrity of the Year when the National Enquirer makes their picks come December. Call your own surprise shots: Vote for Bob Kelleher on November 4!

Why Right Wing Democrats Don’t Debate Left Wing Opponents

August 9, 2008 · 2 Comments

Anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan has collected enough signatures to make the ballot in San Francisco’s eighth congressional district.

“The next part is going to be exciting. I want at least one debate with all four candidates so that Nancy Pelosi has to answer for her record.”

Fat chance. Right wing Democrats do not debate left wing opponents. It destroys the illusion that they are somehow different from the Republicans they oppose.

Right, Max? From Marvin Granger, writing in the Billings Outpost:

Max won’t debate him just as Max didn’t debate his last opponent. When you have $10 million in your campaign fund as Max does, you don’t really have to answer to anybody, except perhaps the sources of the $10 million; and they’re not on the ballot.

Double teaming Tester!

August 8, 2008 · No Comments

Just imagine Montana (U.S.) Republicans double teaming (U.S.) Sen. Jon Tester with (U.S.) Sen. Bob Kelleher and (U.S.) Rep. Dennis Rehberg.

I can hear Mick crowing now (like a little red rooster):

“I just can’t wahyeet! I jus’ cain’t whayeet!”…etc.

Moses of Montana: The One!

August 5, 2008 · 3 Comments

Is Bob Kelleher the Moses of Montana? Is Bob a mythical Lawgiver and Prophet who, like Moses, is ultimately to be denied entry into the Promised Land to which he brings his people for Salvation after many decades of wilderness wanderings?

Living in a foreign land as an adopted child of royalty, Moses no doubt had plenty of experience with governing a vast bureaucracy, even if he himself was never a ruling official. Moses was always close to the action, even if he was never an initiator of ruling power…until G-d took him by the hand.

It is not for no reason that Max Baucus can’t keep his balance, keeps falling down and bleeding from the head. It is a plague, one of many on Montana’s Pharaoh and his ruling Washington (Egypt) elite.

Moses is reported to have died at the age of 120. Bob Kelleher is a mere 86. Imagine what Kelleher can accomplish during 34 years as a U.S. Senator from Montana!…It truly boggles the M-nd!

Thanks Bob

August 1, 2008 · 2 Comments

There’s an interesting discussion going on over at Left in the West under the heading “Senate Republicans: Handmaidens of the Ultra-rich“. Jay Stevens is a little bit defensive about offering up yet more praise for Max Baucus, saying

“And, yes, consider this praise for our Senior Senator, for you well-”embrowed” supporters out there. This is good, progressive legislation that needs to be done, and Max was there trying to make it happen.”

I think that’s a reference to us. The question comes up later in the comments - is Max “tacking left” in response to Bob Kelleher, or is he finally free to be something besides a weather vane. It’s a sign of his weakness that we’re even having these debates about his sincerity. But he’s pulled the plug on us often enough that he is never to be trusted.

And that’s the thing about politicians. You should never trust them to do the right thing, and there’s no point in praising them when they do something right. They don’t care, they don’t hear. They only respond to pressure. And Max is obviously feeling some pressure from the left.

So I think that Max is “tacking left” in response to Kelleher. For that I say “Thanks Bob”, even though there is no point in praising or thanking a politician. But then, when it comes right down to it, Bob’s not a very good politician. So maybe thanks are in order.
